Katelyn Andre, LMHC, R-DMT
Katelyn Andre is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as well as a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT). She graduated from Antioch University New England with a Master of Arts Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling. Katelyn is a member of the American Dance Therapy Association.
Katelyn has experience in various professional settings with many ages and populations. She has led Dance/Movement Therapy groups with children and their caregivers, and with adults with disabilities. Katelyn also has experience working in a residential community based acute treatment program, an inpatient hospital, a day program and partial hospital program, a school based program, and in correctional facilities.
Katelyn is a New Englander at heart, but she lived in Hawaii for a short time during which she worked with veterans dealing with chronic homelessness and substance use issues, as well as at a night school as a career counselor. She enjoyed her work on the island, as it related back to helping others find their purpose. Katelyn is a Veteran Military Spouse and has a personal appreciation for the sacrifices that service members and their families make for this country; she is passionate about giving back to them.
Katelyn is also passionate about her specialty in Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT), which is the use of movement for healing and integration, focused on the connection between the body and mind. DMT is a holistic approach that can be used in combination with traditional psychotherapy, and/or in group therapy settings, with various ages and populations. DMT is adaptable, creative, fun, and explorative!
Katelyn also utilizes numerous other therapeutic techniques in her work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness-Based Techniques, Strength-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Person-Centered Therapy, and trauma-informed care approaches such as The ARC (Attachment, Regulation, Competency) Framework. Katelyn works with many issues including, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, trauma, anger issues, self-esteem struggles, emotional regulation, suicidality and hopelessness, self-harming behaviors, and many more life stressors and challenges.
Katelyn has a warm and welcoming nature, and a person-centered approach above all. She is filled with empathy, and loves to incorporate humor, movement, and creativity into her sessions. Katelyn truly believes she is a person working with people; no better and no worse, but rather equal on life’s journey. She wants you to be yourself, find yourself, and heal yourself in your time together. Katelyn is here when you are ready – to help you move toward healing…growth…change!
